As part of their environmental unit, fifth graders viewed the migration of a plastic bag as it makes its way to The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. I don't want to be a spoiler, but use your own clothe bags at the grocery store kids!
In related news: As of July 1st, 2011, Bulgarian shoppers will begin paying a tax on plastic bags. These bags have been illegal in China since 2008. Efforts to move away from the bags are also underway in Jordan, Syria, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. Let's hope the momentum continues to grow!
